Olmypic kayaker Carrie Johnson was selected to join the U.S. canoeing/kayaking team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Johnson, who suffers from Crohn's Disease, will compete in the women's individual 500 meter kayaking (K-1 500) event.NBC Olympics: Carrie Johnson
Kayaking Career
Johnson entered her first major kayaking competition in 2003. She was scheduled to compete in the World Canoe Kayak Championships, but was forced to withdraw after she was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Johnson went on to compete in the World Canoe Kayak Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
